Marella Explorer 2 is a medium size cruise ship serving the British cruise market.
The ship began life as Celebrity Century and was the lead ship of the Century class. Her two near-sisters are Celebrity Galaxy (now Marella Explorer) and Celebrity Mercury (now Mein Schiff Herz). An innovative design, Century was much-loved by Celebrity fans and served Celebrity for 20 years.
In 2015, the ship was transferred to a joint venture between Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Ctrip. Following a major renovation the ship was renamed Sky Sea Golden Era and went to work in the Chinese cruise market.
The ship underwent another refurbishment in 2018 as part of its transfer to Marella Cruises, a joint venture between Royal Caribbean and TUI.
Marella Explorer 2 offers an "all-inclusive" cruise experience. This means that there is no-extra charge for many things and no automatic gratuities added to the bill. There are charges for premium wines and spirits, spa treatments, specialty restaurants, wi-fi, photos and various other things.
Her cruises are limited to adults 18 and above. The atmosphere is casual but there are "Dress to Impress" nights in which there is a somewhat higher dress code.
Among the features of Marella Explorer 2 are: a steak house, an Italian restaurant, a sushi restaurant, a Champney's spa, and a cinema.
