P&O Cruises' Britannia and Princess Cruises' Regal Princess are sister ships. They were built by the same ship builder, Italy's Fincantieri, based upon the same design. Regal was the second ship of this class and Britannia was the third. However, the ships are not identical. There are several differences largely reflecting the fact that they serve different markets.
In this photo feature, we explore shome of the differences.
In this photo feature, we explore shome of the differences.
Starting at the top, Britannia has two funnels (left) while Regal Princess has one large funnel.
The main pool area on Britannia has two mirror image pools. On Regal Princess, the two pools have different configurations. In addition the hot tubs are by the pools. Overlooking the pool area is a giant LED screen for Movies Under The Stars.
Unlike Royal Princess, the first ship in the class, both Britannia and Regal Princess have aft pools. However, the configuration of the pools differ.
Regal Princess (right) has a Sky Walk that extends out from the upper decks over the sea. On Britannia, the walls of the main pool area curve outwards but not to the same extent as on Regal.
Aft of the funnels on Britannia is a sports court that includes a viewing area and a bar. On Regal Princess, the court is configured fore and aft rather than across the ship. Around the court are a variety of other exercise and sports facilities.
Forward, both ships have adults-only pools. However, the layout of the pools and the seating around the pools differ (above).
Both ships also have an adults-only relaxation area forward of the adult pool. These have premium loungers and pavilions for massages and spa treatments. These areas are quite similar, differing primarily in the furnishings (below).
