In 1988, Sovereign of the Seas burst upon the scene as the largest cruise ship in the world. She was bigger in gross tonnage than the remaining ocean liners that had been converted to cruising, which was a first. In addition, she was innovative in other ways, with a large array of amenities and public spaces. Sovereign of the Seas remained with Royal Caribbean until 2008 when she was transferred to Royal Caribbean's affiliate Pullmantur Cruises, where she sailed under the name Sovereign. In 2020, following Pullmantur's failure, the ship was broken up in Turkey.
On this page, we present a few images of the ship both as Sovereign of the Seas and as Sovereign.
