NORWEGIAN GEM AND THE VERRAZANO BRIDGE |

The Verrazano Narrows Bridge spans the mouth of New York harbor. Therefore, cruise ships entering and leaving the harbor have to pass underneath the bridge.
Having been based in New York most of her life, Norwegian Gem has passed under the bridge numerous times.

Approaching the bridge, it always looks like a close fit. However, once again the Gem makes it through.

A week later, the sun has just risen on a beautiful Spring morning. Gem is back and looking to pass under the bridge in the other direction.

|
|
This time the passage is less dramatic as Gem appears to have more space than the week before. Did someone raise the bridge?

Gem sails serenely through the harbor towards her berth in Manhattan.
