SUMMARY

Mein Schiff 1 is a large, relaxed, family-friendly cruise ship targeted to the German-speaking cruise market.  

It should be noted at the outset that this ship is not the Mein Schiff 1 that began the Mein Schiff line of ships.  That ship, the former Celebrity Galaxy, is now Marella Explorer.  Somewhat confusingly, TUI Cruises recycled the name giving it to a new ship i.e., the ship discussed in this profile.  As a result, this ship is sometimes called Neue Mein Schiff 1.

​This Mein Schiff 1 is the lead ship in a new class of ships for TUI Cruises.  She entered the fleet in 2018 as the largest ship yet built for TUI.
  
As one would expect, the larger Mein Schiff 1 has 140 more passenger cabins than her predecessors in a wider range of categories.  Other features include the “Schaubühne”, an auditorium for speeches and concerts. 

The ship also has an expanded sports and fitness area.   It includes a completely covered arena, which has a sports court and a rock climbing wall.  The 438-metre running track is significantly longer than on the previous ships.     

Mein Schiff 1 carries forward many of the popular features of the previous ships including the glass-enclosed "Diamond" area at the stern of the ship.

There are 12 dining venues and 17 bars and lounges. The ship features an "all-inclusive" approach to cruising in which gratuities, most of the restaurants and most drinks are included in the cruise fare.

The interior decor is contemporary and restrained.
