SUMMARY The Berlin is a small cruise ship serving primarily the German speaking cruise market. She is perhaps best known for her role as the cruise ship in the German television series “Das Traumschiff”
This ship first went into service in 1980. In 1986, she was lengthened by 17 meters with an increase in passenger capacity from 300 to its present level Over her service career, this ship has sailed under several names. In addition to Berlin, she has been Princess Mahuri (1982-84), Orange Melody (2005) and FTI Berlin (2012-14). English-speaking cruisers may remember her as Saga Cruises' Spirit of Adventure (2005-13). Berlin uses her small size and maneuverability to visit ports that larger cruise ships cannot navigate as well as better known ports. Complementing this, the line features its destination focused enrichment program and its shore excursions. A classic cruise ship, Berlin has a tasteful contemporary décor. While German is the official language aboard, FTI also markets to English-speaking cruisers noting that Berlin offers “English speaking personal service.” There are two restaurants - - the main dining room and the buffet restaurant. The main dining room is somewhat more formal and is single seating. The buffet restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining. Berlin has three bars and lounges – the Yacht Club, with live piano music; the Berlin lounge on the Sun Deck; and.the Sirocco Lounge, which is also the main entertainment venue. It has nightly musical presentations, films and cabaret acts as well as lectures during the day. Other features include a spa, a large library and a small outdoor pool. |
