When the Oasis-class ships entered service, it was thought that they would only be able to call at a few ports where custom-built facilities had been built for there use. Experience revealed that the Oasis cruise ships were more versatile than was originally thought. In addition, more ports built facilities that could meet the needs of such large ships. Consequently, the Oasis ships have expanded their itineraries beyond the original set of ports.
San Juan was one of the first ports that the Oasis class called at after the decision to expand these ships itineraries. Now regular visitors, the Oasis ships quickly returned after the port re-opened following the 2017 hurricanes. In this pictorial, we see Allure of the Seas docked at Pier 3 in front of Old San Juan. |
